Make Your Dream Life Happen Starting Today
I was destined to become a builder.
My dream life started as a young boy, building pretend roads and dams on Sydney's beaches.
This led me to building major highway and energy infrastructure projects in Australia and then Canada as a project manager. Next I was buying, building and scaling companies.
Now I'm a builder of Leaders.
My time is spent helping people become great leaders to build and grow their businesses. Helping leaders achieve success by taking accountability for getting the right people on their team, encouraging disruptive innovation while taking risks in their industry. To achieve this it's crucial to maintain a healthy balance in life with family and business. It’s our passion that gets us out of bed in the morning and drives us to succeed.
Work to live, not live to work.
Unlocking your full potential, visualizing those Big Hairy Audacious Goals, and being honest about what your dreams really look like are key to getting everything you desire in life. I know, it’s January, cash flow's taken a hit, your direction is a little unclear, and who knows how the economy is going to play out in the next few months…let’s for a moment block out all the negatives and focus on what we do know and what we want for our lives
Visualization Is Key
Whether it’s this mantra or any other of a similar nature, creating a vision in your mind to live by is the first step to success.
Visualization helps you to build self-confidence, develop new skills, and focus on your goals. These in turn enable you to overcome the fears and limiting beliefs that are holding you back from success and happiness. This is why I am a firm believer in using Vision Boards to help you focus on what you want and determine how to get it.
What Is A Vision Board?
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve no doubt heard me talk about Vision Boards before, especially at this time of the year.
Just in case you need a reminder, a Vision Board is a tool that will help you to visualize your dreams between where you are now and where you want to be down the road, whether you are focusing on the coming year or looking at a long-range plan for the next 10 years.
Why Do You Need A Vision Board?
It's been proven that you have a 90% chance of achieving your goals if you write them down. Having goals is great, but to achieve what? Too often people set goals like; run a marathon, or lose 25lbs, or give up smoking, or reach $5M in revenue, or get a new job.Sometimes they achieve their goals and then; never run again, put the 25lbs back on, start smoking again, end up back at $2M, and need another new job.
Why are we setting those goals? Why do we relapse or go back to our old ways?Because we don't have a clear vision or purpose for our lives.
We need to know where we're headed, what arriving there looks like.Only then will we know what goals to set, and how to create real change in our lives.
How Do You Make A Vision Board?
There are only 5 steps:
Why is it important to review your vision board? - Reflect, Renew, and Redirect
You may have started this exercise last year or a couple of years ago, especially those of you I work with regularly. Wherever you are on this journey, once you have a completed or updated Vision Board, it’s essential to place it where you can see it. The wall in your home office, or the screen saver on your laptop and phone.Regular review is important and the start of a new year is an ideal time to do it.Renewing your excitement about your Dream Life after completing your Vision Board is key to assist you in resetting your goals for the coming year. See my last blog post on goal settings.
If you get stuck, or seem to be unable to get started, let me know, I can help.I'd be happy to assist you work through the process, and share my Vision Board with you and how it's changed and grown over time.Being accountable to someone for the progress you make on your Vision Board (both its creation and execution) goes a long way to helping you smash your goals and live your dream life!
